About what are the BAD neighborhoods in Denver

What are the BAD neighborhoods in Denver?
Everyone has their own idea on good neighborhoods - however usually people agree on where to stay out of. So rather than asking where to go - I want to know where to stay out of. I am looking to work in Downtown Denver and have two small children. Thanks!!

Answer 1 :
Five Points is bad, I hear.
Answer 2 :
...ask Darrent Williams' family. I'm sure they have a couple of ideas.
Answer 3 :
Denver West Side is sort of a bad area, although it is not as bad as it used to be. That's basically anywhere just west of I-25 along Federal Boulevard. Another bad area is around Florida Avenue and Federal Boulevard in Sheridan. There are several active gangs in that area. Take note that Federal Boulevard is mentioned twice. Be conscious of your surroundings when you're on that stretch of road and you'll be fine.
Answer 4 :
Aurora and Commerce City
Answer 5 :
Well... traditionally, Colfax is street to stay away from. It used to be just E. Colfax, but now its pretty mixed, some parts of it are good others, not.... but downtown Denver is usually nice and pretty safe (but common sense tells you to stay out of the alleys). Its when you go out of the downtown area somewhat north and east 20 blocks north or 20 blocks east, which isnt so good. Also, Federal and 23rd north is not the safest area. There are a few pretty neat places for children though... The childrens museum, the aquarium, firefighters museum, and more. Hope that helps...
Answer 6 :
Cars get stolen all the time especially along I25. I would worry more about car theft or your car broken into then your safety because Denver is a safer place to live.
Answer 7 :
Sheriden area - espescially around the federal st. area! I saw 2 gangs get into a fight while I was waiting for a train there. One guy got pretty hurt.

Answer 1 :
You should check out the mapquest.com page for the route(s) from Colorado Springs to Denver. You can click on "traffic" at the top right of the webpage to see what conditions are like at the time(s) you want to go there and back to see what traffic is like and how long it will take you.
Answer 2 :
It's pretty bad. During rush hour you can add anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes to your drive. I would try to go in early or late and the same with leaving. Hope this helps a little.

About is anyone in denver doing green sustainability work besides the city

is anyone in denver doing green sustainability work besides the city? ?
because i'm having a damn hard time finding anything. if you have leads of how a neighborhood is setting up its own community garden or carshare for a 3-block radius, or about if the light rail system is really working out, or anything at all about green jobs and so forth, please let me know! other: recycling superheroes, rainwater harvesting geeks, biodiesel co-op using grease..... oh, and horse-drawn sleighs during snowy weather!

FIRST OF ALL- besides the CITY? Umm, they're only doing that for show since we're hosting the DNC. Although I will admit, we have a good recycling program, and I think a lot of people ride the light rail! We have a great transit system in general. As far as the other things you're looking for...you needn't go further than the people's republic of Boulder. They're right up your alley!
